The wind was blasting to 40 miles-per-hour and the snow whipped wildly through the night. I set the camera up indoors, aimed out through a window. This exposure lasted for 30 minutes. Ambient light from town, reflecting off the clouds and falling snow illuminated the scene. The softness of the scene and the smudgy appearance to tree branches is caused by the blur of wind moving them back and forth during the long exposure.

On this page is one of hundreds of Earth Image Photography, Nature Photography images created over more than thirty years. There are human interest photographs, humorous photographs, photojournalism photography, great autumn leaf scenes and closeups of autumn leaves. Time exposure photography is a large part of the collection along with nature photography closeups. Wildflower images and snowy winter scenes and soothing photographs, they're all here. Books are on this site too: We Boiled Up a Sheet takes place near the duxburynorthpool, and My Summer Office is an entertaining recounting of summers on the Wisconsin River inside and around Sonbeam's Secret Channel. Enjoy the wealth of imagery to be found on the Earth Image Nature Photography site, both in photography and prose.
